Beautiful buildings that save the environment.

The Cascadia Region Green Building Council (BC, Washington, Oregon, Alaska) has created the Living Building Challenge which encourages the construction of buildings that:

  • generate all of their own energy with renewable resources
  • capture and treats all of their water
  • operate efficiently and for maximum beauty

The Living Building Challenge is comprised of six performance areas, or Petals:
1.Site
2.Energy
3.Materials
4.Water
5.Indoor Quality
6.Beauty + Inspiration

Projects may apply for individual Petal designation by satisfying the requirements within that petal, or for Living Building Status by attaining all requirements within the system.

How do the buildings at Algonquin rate in these categories?
