A made-in-Algonquin sustainability plan
Sustainability, as outlined in Algonquin’s current Strategic Plan 2008-2013, is one of the College’s most pressing concerns today, during the next 5 years, and in the decades to come.
Algonquin College will embrace the concepts of environmental, social and financial sustainability for both its program delivery and its operations. The College will build on current “green” practices to minimize its environmental footprint and enable students to contribute to sustainable development.
Who’s involved?
To help achieve our sustainability goals, the College has hired Sustainability Solutions Group (SSG), a consulting firm, to work with staff and other campus community representatives to develop a made-in-Algonquin sustainability plan. This initiative is referred to as the Algonquin Sustainability Strategy Project.
Sustainability Solutions Group (www.sustainabilitysolutions.ca) is a Canadian worker’s co-operative that nurtures and embodies a holistic understanding of sustainability and works with clients and collaborators to meaningfully integrate social, ecological and economic practices in their organizations and work.
SSG is working closely with the Sustainable Algonquin Working Group (SSWG) to plan, organize and advance the Sustainable Algonquin Strategy Project. The Sustainable Algonquin Strategy Project is part of a broad range of sustainability initiatives launched by the Sustainable Algonquin Steering Committee (SASC).
